Knowing how to sell your luxury items on Shopify is an excellent way to gain brand exposure and sell your products on one of the leading ecommerce websites in the world.

It is quick and easy, especially when compared to other ecommerce platforms.

There are several sites where you can sell your luxury goods, but few are as well-known as Shopify. The platform has a user-friendly interface and allows you to create your own online store without needing to host a site of your own or paying for an ecommerce domain.

It offers a wide range of themes, styles, and other customizations. Plus, Shopify is ideal for beginners and caters to developers by providing complete access to HTML, CSS, and Shopify’s template language, Liquid.

The only question to ask yourself now is…

Do Luxury Brands Use Shopify?

Yes, luxury brands absolutely sell their products on Shopify. In fact, Shopify Plus is a platform add-on specifically for luxury brands.

Moreover, the platform makes customizing your online store simple, allowing you to use your luxury brand’s tone, theme, and style on Spotify. More reasons luxury brands choose Shopify include:

  • The ability to easily manage inventory
  • Simple integration with other tools
  • Connection with Shopify POS
  • Advanced security and regular updates
  • Stellar customer support
  • Brand exposure on a high-ranking site

7 Tips on How to Sell Luxury Items on Shopify

Below, we look at steps for launching your online store on Shopify, along with suggestions on boosting your customers' ecommerce shopping experience and getting your luxury brand to stand out.

1. Sign Up for Shopify

Launch your online store, sell on social media and in person, and explore additional sales channels.

If you decide Shopify is a good fit for your luxury brand, simply select your package and grow your business. Sign up directly on their website.

2. Select Your Sales Channel

With Shopify, don't be afraid to research your sales channel options.

Connect TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram to your Shopify dashboard. You can change your selections at any time on your Shopify dashboard under the “Sales Channels” tab.

3. Choose a Package

Shopify allows brands to sell on their platform risk-free with a 14-day trial to see all that Shopify has to offer. After the 14-day free trial, select a pricing plan that meets your needs.

Your options include the following:

  • Basic Shopify – $26: Sell unlimited products and gain access to features like gift cards and abandoned cart recovery. Shopify charges a 2% transaction fee on all transactions (unless you use Shopify Payments).
  • Shopify – $71: This package unlocks ecommerce features such as international pricing and professional reporting. Transaction fees outside of the Shopify Payments feature are 1%.
  • Advanced Shopify – $266: Unlock automatic shipping rate calculations and advanced reporting. Shopify's transaction fee for this package is 0.5% unless you opt for Shopify Payments.

Shopify also offers a Lite plan, which gives you access to an embeddable “Buy” button and a POS app for selling in person. Shopify Plus is available to large online retailers, beginning at $2,000 a month.

Prices may vary. Contact Shopify directly to see if pricing models have changed.

4. Set Up Customer Payment Options

With Shopify, you have multiple payment options. Use Shopify Payments by activating it in the quick-start wizard. Shopify Payments allows you to accept debit cards, credit cards, and in-person payments, all with a straightforward flat-rate transaction fee.

Alternatively, you can connect your merchant services processor instead. However, Shopify tacks on a separate transaction fee if you choose this option.

In-person retailers can also add manual payment methods like checks and cash. To do this, under “Settings,” click on the “Payments” tab to add or edit your payment options.

5. Create Some Collection Pages and Add Items

Collections keep your products organized. You can set them up under “Products” in the “Collections” tab on your Shopify dashboard. Give each a label and short description for search engine optimization (SEO).

Set “Collection” pages to self-populate as you add your Shopify products to your ecommerce store.

Shopify’s versatile platform allows you to sell all types of goods. To add them, click on the green “Add Product” button. You can find it in the “Products” tab on your Shopify dashboard.

6. Integrate Product Customization and Personalization

Customers looking for luxury brands don't want to simply shop for designer fashions. They want to co-design luxury styles to represent their unique personality.

Product personalization takes a journey lens to each touchpoint between the customer and your brand. It includes your marketing message, content, and features that allow shoppers to customize their luxury orders.

The entire experience will influence your shoppers' perception of values, quality, and individuality.

7. Set Up Your Shopify Online Store

Now that you have a few products and collections on your Shopify dashboard, it’s time to build your online store.

Here's how:

  • Select your store's theme
  • Customize theme settings
  • Edit the store header
  • Customize your home page
  • Set up policy pages
  • Create store menus
  • Edit the site footer
  • Set up SEO details
  • Connect a custom domain name (Shopify store URLs appear as https://yourstorename.myshopify.com by default)

Add your custom domain (i.e., yourstorename.com) in the “Domains” tab of the “Settings” menu. You can also buy one through Shopify if you like or connect one you already own.

The final step to setting up your online store with Shopify is to place a test order. As long as everything goes smoothly, you are ready to go live!
